Shields offer additional defenses and a chance to block. Only one shield may be equipped at a time, in the offhand slot.

Shields and Body Armours have inherent Movement Speed penalties. In general, all STR Shields come with an '6% reduced Movement Speed' penalty and all other Shields have a '3% reduced Movement Speed' penalty.

Tower shields

Tower shields require strength to equip and provide additional armour rating.

Bucklers

Bucklers require dexterity to equip and provide additional evasion rating.

Kite shields

Kite shields require a combination of strength and intelligence to equip and provide additional armour rating and energy shield. Most also have an implicit elemental resistance mod.

Spiked shields
