The Ezomyte's ancestors failed to honour the [[First Ones]] for their "gifts".<ref>See [[Feastbind]]</ref> As a consequence, the First Ones caused fires to spill "out of a mountain". As it did so, [[Fenumus]] wove a net and carried itself into the sky, floating on the hot winds.<ref>See [[Fenumus' Spinnerets]] </ref> The flames swept from "north to south", growing taller, consuming the land.<ref>See [[Rolling Flames]]</ref> Once the flames had "spread across the land", [[Saqawal]] used its wings to bring the fires to a "standstill".<ref> See [[Saqawal's Winds]] </ref>

For the Ezomytes, the aftermath was catastrophic. The then leaders had been "turned to ash where they stood"<ref> See [[Urn of the Original Ashes]] </ref>, civilization was "erased"<ref> See [[Endless Misery]] </ref>, and the land was laid barren. Those who survived grew "weak"<ref> See [[Faminebind]] </ref>, but were taken "pity" on by "[[Mother Gull]]", who gave them "grain and water". However, this "grain and water" was somehow tainted, and those who had enjoyed "birthed" monsters that "fed on each other"<ref> See [[The Retch]] </ref> (i.e. cannibals).

There is some connection to be drawn in the imagery of the fire spilling out of a mountain and the events depicted in the murals found in the [[Proto-Vaal]] civilization's ruins. The mural can be found on that page.
