Scourge League Logo

Are you not able to upload a new png version of the logo right now? Iamacyborg (talk) 11:09, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

I assume you are referring to this edit: Special:PermanentLink/1143184. That was submitted after I had already uploaded the new logo as a new file File:Scourge_league_logo.png and replaced it on Scourge league. But yes it was not possible to use "Upload a new version of this file" to replace the original JPG file File:Scourge_league_logo.jpg with the new PNG file (error a mismatch of file extension/MIME types). It was also not possible to use "Move" to rename the existing file to PNG before replacing it with the new upload (error about existing file being of different type). But perhaps there is another way I am not aware of. --R3 (talk) 11:33, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

I think that's the intended behaviour. The files have different filetypes so you can't just replace the jpg one with a png. I can delete if needed but it all sounds like it's working as I'd expect it to, we just need to replace references to the jpg with references to the new png. But that's what I had already done in the first place? My approach, in chronological order, was as follows:

1. Upload PNG as new file File:Scourge_league_logo.png
2. Change reference from JPG to PNG file on Scourge league page (only page referencing the old logo)
3. Propose old JPG for deletion: Special:PermanentLink/1143184 (just for cleanup, it's now unreferenced by any pages)
