Skill list

There is a templated ask list of skills comparing crit, so perhaps a templated ask list comparing damage effectiveness might be useful to add? One of the problems with that though is many skills don't have damage effectiveness listed since they're simply 100%. Adding the damage effectiveness line to applicable skills that don't have it doesn't seem like a good idea since it might confuse visitors who notice the difference between the wiki and the game. Or can we hide that sort of thing? Perhaps a separate list of skills with 100% effectiveness would work? At first glance it seems it would need to be manually updated, but until some sort of parameters to accurately find all the 100% effectiveness skills is put in and addable to the main ask template, that second table should be an acceptable compromise. Seems like an interesting addition. Adding a column for this can be done in module:Item2 somewhere under 'core.result.skill_gem'. Adding 100% to the gems without Property:Has damage effectiveness makes this a bit trickier than ordinary, and for that I recommend that you contact user:OmegaK2 who is the most familiar with the code. --Illviljan (talk) 00:00, 11 June 2016 (UTC)

Skills

You're definitely right to have reverted my edit. What's confusing is that GGG still call it damage effectiveness when relating to skills in patch notes, like the change to Glacial HammerGlacial HammerAttack, Melee, Strike, Cold
Level: (1-20)
Cost: 5 Mana
Attack Damage: (165-269)% of base
Effectiveness of Added Damage: (165-269)%
Hits enemies, converting some of your physical damage to cold damage. If a non-unique enemy is frozen and is on less than one third life, they will shatter when hit by Glacial Hammer. If striking three times in a row, the third strike will freeze enemies more easily. Requires a Mace, Sceptre or Staff.25% chance to Freeze enemies
100% of Physical Damage Converted to Cold Damage
Every third successive strike Freezes enemies as though dealing (200-390)% more Damage
+0.2 metres to Melee Strike Range
35% increased Duration of Cold Ailments
(10-29)% increased Effect of Cold Ailments
Adds (2-75) to (3-113) Cold Damage against Chilled Enemies

Additional Effects From 1-20% Quality:
Every third successive strike Freezes enemies as though dealing (5-100)% more Damage

Yeah, noticed it a few times too, they probably still call it that way internally. Fortunately, ingame terminology has been consistent. Raicss (talk) 15:02, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Yup, although seeing as they're still basically the same thing, I think it might still be worth including a few lines about melee skills on the page, even if it's just to link to another page that uses the correct terminology. Iamacyborg (talk) 15:12, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Thought about it, but that part is probably explained clear enough on damage calculation page. Internally it's the same thing, but after they decided to display base damage on skill gem with the calculation already applied, it's not the same anymore from the user point of view.
