Strange Barrel is a unique Strongbox.

This strongbox spawn by waves (a stream) of enemies (spiders) to defend chest. At the very end waves, it spawn few rares mod of spider, one of them will shoot chaos projectile just like Na'em, Bending Stone projectile skills but in light green(chaos) version.

The chest may contains one very rare Unique item.
