Obtaining

on a Map increases the chance that crystals contain a Remnant of Curruption [citation needed]. - Tormented Spirits might be able to add a Remnant of Curruption to a crystal [citation needed].
On slaying a monster bearing a Remnant of Corruption, the Remnant is dropped just like normal essences. Additionally two Fleshmonster spawn on the drop location.
Spending
Corrupting the Essence a monster is trapped in will result in one of the following outcomes chosen at random:
- Mobs are broken free with empowered stats.
- All contained essences have their level increased by 1.
- Another essence is added.
- Upgrade the essence type to a higher essence type in the tiered progression.
