Template:Split

This template displays a notice that the page or section it appears on is the subject of a split proposal.

Usage

This template should be placed at the top of a page or section when it is suggested that it should be split into one or more other pages. This is typically done when those other pages do not already exist. To propose splitting content from a page into another page that already exists, consider using {{split portions}} instead. Either way, if they already exist, the other pages should use {{merge portions from}}.

The page this template appears on will automatically be added to Category:Proposed splits.

The names of up to ten other pages can be given using the first through the tenth unnamed parameters.

To indicate that a section should be split into another page, place this template at the top of the section and use |section=yes.

A reason for the split proposal can be given using |reason=. It is not required, but it can be used to provide context at a glance.

It is good practice specify the date of the split proposal using |date=.

Use |talk= to display a link to where the split proposal is discussed. To link to a section on the page's own talk page, use |talk=Section title. To link to a section on another talk page, use |talk=Talk:Other page#Section title.
