Today I did an independent verification that cleave's radius has nothing to do with weapon range. The method was simple and easy to understand. From the max distance possible, I cleaved two different urns. For the first one I used regular old axes, and for the second one I equipped a pair of chitus' needles. Dual wielding chitus, I should have 7 additional weapon range so the difference should be quite noticeable, but there's no difference at all.
So I don't know the direction this Wiki aims to go and I had a question. Plenty of times an article will state a fact like this (cleave aoe radius is different from weapon range) without any kind of evidence. Is there any room in the wiki for video evidence, trials or such?
Used to be you could find a lot of these justifications in the skillgem threads on GGG's website. Mark, Carl, Rory, or Bex would answer these kinds of inquiries directly and it made great source material. Unfortunately they've archived all those posts. -- Zakaluka15
