Intent and Purpose
Microtransactions are Grinding Gear Games' chosen business model. It's what keeps them eating and happy to keep working on new content for this game. :)
- i.e. If you like it, consider giving them some money for it. Doesn't have to be much.
GGG's current policy is that no microtransactions should ever provide an actual advantage to the player. The closest items to this line are the extra-stash tabs, which help players organise loot and potentially exploiting certain Vendor Recipes to generate extra currency. They are actively working to close these loopholes by tweaking those recipes, however (or at least it's on their list of things to do).
Where to access
It's generally available at the top and bottom right hand corner of all web-pages on the site.[1] The two sub links are:
- Purchase directs you to convert your hard cash to points. Needed for most things except for custom content.
- Micro-transactions is where you buy the actual stuff.
What can I buy?
- Extra stash tabs, the ability to customise them, and extra character-slots for collectors.
- Non-combat critters to follow you around.
- Extra-glow on your weapons and head gear.
- Re-skins to various skills, such as replacing Skeletons with Statues.
- Currently contain the /dance animations for each character.
- At the moment, just one option: for $1000, get your chance to pitch an idea for a unique to the devs and collaborate with them so that (A) it's made to your liking, and (B) won't destroy game-balance.
