Viridian Watchstone is a watchstone.
In item filter (and the text copied in-game by using Control + C keybind in PC), it belongs to Atlas Region Upgrade Item item class, despite GGG declared it belongs to Quest Items item class.[1]
It has the green border in-game, just like other quest item . However, sextant can be applied on the watchstone to allow the sextant mod show up on the watchstone. Players can swap the watchstones between atlas regions to store and optimize the sextant mod they want for that region.
Item acquisition
Viridian Watchstone is drop disabled.
Before the removal, it was a drop from Al-Hezmin, the Hunter by following The Hunter quest. There are total of 8 Viridian Watchstones that actually have different internal id, correspond to the 8 regions of the atlas.
From ver. 3.9 to 3.15, the 5th to 8th Viridian Watchstones require to socket 1 set of 4 Watchstones in a region that the player haven't obtain the Viridian Watchstones yet. This was changed in version 3.16.0 when the dev cut the atlas region from 8 to 4.
