Lore

Anyone have concrete prove that Avarius became a vessel of god is due to The Beast? (e.g. a dialogue of NPC has said that) Or just guessed? (Special:Diff/396621) Neokowloon (talk) 14:22, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

I don't have "concrete proof", but based on my understanding of the lore, this looks correct. The lore in PoE isn't all that explicit about a lot of things, so it's sometimes necessary to make inferences. We know that the gods reemerged after the Beast was killed, based on dialogue with Sin. We can infer that High Templar Avarius essentially became a living vessel for Innocence based on the fact that Innocence literally emerges from Avarius' body once the character kills him. Sin also refers to Avarius as the "pretentious little vessel of [Innocence]". —Vini (t|c) 15:31, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

Well, may be The Beast part sounds right, but how about the part "His rise to power is suggested to have been made possible by the powers he acquired after becoming the living vessel for Innocence,". Neokowloon (talk) 08:37, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

What i mean as a vessel and be a powerful political figure can have reverse relationship, which Innocence choose him because he is powerful, not vice versa that because he is a vessel so that he came to power. We never know which version is the version GGG want to endorse. All we know is Avarius himself already have some sort of power to command the construction of Templar Courts and the Chamber within the Courts, which can't be suddenly built during end of Act 4 and the start of Act 5. It may be wise to revisit this topic. Vilenta's dialogue indicates that Avarius was indeed his own person (despite only having served as High Templar very briefly after Dominus), and therefore Innocence should be forked to his own page with separate lore. It is High Templar Maxarius which is Innocence's alter-ego (as revealed by Sanctum league), which would be more appropriate. Redirects for Innocence should go to Innocence (NPC).
