"Fortify is a support gem. It causes the linked melee skills to apply the Fortify buff on the user"
It is not the user (not the character) who gains the buff. At least in case of Ancestral Warchief (as active gem) and Fortify Support (as support gem).

Please state it clearly somewhere, that what is the mechanics in general. Who will gain endurance, frenzy, etc. charges and/or other benefits? The character or the totem? At least in the case of attacking totems.
