I started playing this game recently, and I am truly wondering how most skill gems interact with each other. I saw a video where this guy was using a movement spell and he was moving much further than I would with Flame dash, so that got me wondering if I can use something like increased area effect, because the spell has several area of effect, uhm, effects. you have the fire trial that you leave, the distance of travel. I noticed that I moved further with each level, but sometimes that is not enough. This is the reason I started questioning the interaction of this skill gem. And the actual question is: can I use any gems to increase the distance traveled and if not, which skill provides the best distance to cast speed ratio? Also, does anyone know if there is a site where I can preview different skill combinations? Jokeboy (talk) 10:36, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

Increased area of effect (and its opposite, conc effect) will not work on Flame Dash. You can tell if a support has actually connected to a skill in the skill bar by a little initial, for iAoE a capital E in a blue box. As a general guide, look at the keywords - read the support section in Skill_gems_by_keyword. Since Flame Dash doesn't have the AoE keyword, AoE supports have nothing to alter. In fact, neither the trail nor the distance traveled are calculated as AoEs - the trail is simply a line with a fixed width, and the distance traveled is determined by what you can target, but as with targeting issues with other spells, seems to get more range when you hold shift to force cast in place - without that, even though you can dash that far, it will choose to walk a little first then dash the rest of the way. --Qetuth-(talk) 12:22, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
To answer your second question, I am not yet aware of anything that changes flame dash distance, it did not seem to grow with level for me, and nothing changes its speed except cast speed, so quality on the gem, cast speed from gear, or the faster casting support. Lightning Warp starts a lot slower overall but is affected by your run speed as well as your cast speed, and can use the less duration support, so an all out warp specialist can get quite fast. Smoke Mine is instant and unlimited range within line of sight, but can only take you to a previous location you placed a mine at. Blink Arrow and Leap Slam come from your attack speed, so again start off slower but a specialist could make them quite fast. So, in general Flame Dash already seems the fastest way to get around up until you hit its cooldown. I don't think there is an external site to preview skills. --Qetuth-(talk) 12:36, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
