Elemental Damage Leech?

As of this writing the page states "All leech effects that apply to spells or elemental damage will apply to the skill". Should "elemental" be changed to "physical"? Adalace (talk) 04:51, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

I think it should be "All leech effects that apply to spells, physical damage or elemental damage will apply to the skill", you can do some odd things with phys to lightning/auras to get blade vortex to elemental. A few edits ago the text warned about #% Physical Attack Damage Leeched as Life/Mana not working on it, which was the important part of the paragraph, but it seems to have been removed since.--Illviljan (talk) 13:06, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
I updated the Leech section to make it more generic (referring to damage types dealt, instead of specific damage types), and re-added the Attack exception you mentioned. Adalace (talk) 01:10, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

DPS calculation is wrong.

The dps calculation on this page is wrong. The problem is that the speed of the spin of the skill has nothing to do with cast speed. With 80 cast speed it'll rotate ~ 2.1/2.2 times around you per sec. With 100000 cast speed it'll rotate around you ~ 2.1/2.2 times per sec. All cast speed does for this skill is augment the amount of blades you can stack up at a given time and how fast they will stack up. I looked at the rotation animation and counted how many spins occur in the 9.7 duration of my skill. I found that the blades spun about 21 times around my character before terminating. 21/9.7 = ~2.1 times per sec. my other character with no echo or faster casting gem and no duration gets about 11 spins over 5 secs. 11/5 = ~ 2.2. Its about the same no matter what. --Draakisback (talk) 22:34, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

My dps calc would be more like total DPS = ((average phys + average ele + average chaos) * 2.1 ) * average number of blades you sustain.

The formulas does exactly what you propose. However it uses the tooltip DPS to calculate the mean damage (Blade Damage = Tooltip DPS / Casts Per Second). The page has defined the rotation speed as 2 rev per second, not sure how reliable the page is though since there is no source for that value...--Illviljan (talk) 20:10, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps it might be worth asking GGG about whether or not the skill actually rotates at a constant rate regardless of cast speed. Tooltip dps increases and decreases based on cast speed but the animation does not speed up or slow down. It may have been a cosmetic choice of theirs to do it this way or an engine constraint since showing all 5 blades staggered might be a bit difficult on the game. --Draakisback (talk) 22:33, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

It's worse than wrong. It's incoherent, and needlessly complicated. A more straightforward calculation would be based on the number of blades you can sustain, and avoid all the wrongheaded chatter about cast times and a bifurcated calculation based on whether you've hit the cap or not. The cap is just where your sustained blades is 50, it shouldn't call for some separate formula.--Khomotso (talk) 13:14, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
