Shocked ground is a detrimental ground effect that inflicts a debuff that causing affected targets to take increased damage from all sources. Unless otherwise specified, it has a base Shock value of 15%.

Mechanics

Shocked ground applies a flat value of #% increased damage taken. Its default value is 15%, with shocked ground from map mods applying 20%, 35%, or 50% in white, yellow, or red maps respectively. The magnitude of the map mod may further scale with #% increased effect of Modifiers on non-unique Maps.

When created by the character, shock effect will scale with the player's #% increased effect of ailments modifiers.[1] Shocks from shocked ground are not attributed to the creator of the shocked ground; it does not interact with effects that care about Shocked by you, but conversely it can shock while you have the Cannot Shock stat.

Shocked ground and Shock do not stack: the strongest damage taken modifier applies.

Mitigation

The modifiers Immune to Shock and Cannot be Shocked prevent the application of Shock to the character.[2] #% chance to Avoid being Shocked functions the same way when stacked to 100%. With Unaffected by Shock, the character will be shocked, but the shock debuff will not modify damage taken.

Because shock from a ground effect has no duration, shocked ground cannot be avoided through 100% reduced duration of ailments.

  • We've made performance improvements to ground effects. They now use considerably less bandwidth and server resources. Disconnections or lockstep stuttering near ground effects should occur far less often.

  • Shock and Shocked Ground have been changed so that they cause 50% increased damage taken (rather than 30%) but no longer stack. They do not stack with each other either. "Cannot Be Shocked" now prevents players being affected by either Shocked Ground or Shock itself.

Notes

  1. The patch changed the description of Shocking Ground related map mod, as well as mod of Delve and Synthesis area. However, legacy map mods were unchanged. Moreover, in contradiction to the patch notes, all the descriptions of the Chilled Ground related area mods are not changed.
  2. It was not stated in the patch notes, but in 3.9 the map modifier has changed to use stat id "map_ground_lightning_base_magnitude" for the magnitude of Shocked Ground, which is 20/35/50% and NOT using the default value of shock.
