Shield Charge is an attackmovementtravelskill. The user charges at a location with their shield, dealing area damage while moving and on arrival. Enemies in the path of the charge are knocked back. Unlike most attack skills, Shield Charge uses your shield's stats to calculate damage.
Shield charge can be used in two ways: a shield charge that moves toward a distant target, or a stationary shield bash against a nearby target.
If used to charge to another location, the user will begin moving immediately, damaging enemies in a very small area around them while charging, in a small circle on arrival, and in a much larger frontal cone on arrival. Each enemy can only be hit once per use of Shield Charge.
If used against a close target, the user stays stationary and bashes with their shield, only dealing damage in a frontal cone.
Attack time: Shield Charge gains its base attack time from the gem, not the weapon or the shield. This time is used at the end of a charge: one attack time must pass before the user can perform another attack. Global attack speed modifiers will decrease this delay. The attack time of stationary uses is 30% slower.
Movement speed: The speed of the charge is scaled by the user's movement speed, as well as global modifiers to attack speed. Shield Charge gains considerable movement speed from the gem, gem levels, and gem quality.
Distance: Damage and reduced enemy stun threshold are proportional to the distance charged. The maximum charge distance is 6 metres.[1] Note that the in-game average damage tooltip for Shield Charge does not factor in the bonus gained from charge distance.
Area of Effect: All hits by Shield Charge deal area damage. All of its damaging areas can be scaled by modifiers to area of effect.
Shield: Like other shield skills, damage dealt is based on the equipped shield and global stats. Flame Dash, Whirling Blades and Dash now repeat in the same direction as the initial use. Shield Charge is now able to repeat, though only the larger area attack performed upon reaching your target is repeated. Attacking in place with Leap Slam now repeats in the same direction as the initial use.
Shield Charge now has a base Attack Time of 0.5 seconds at all gem levels (previously 0.53-0.47 seconds).
Now has 3 to 4 Added Physical Damage per 15 Armour or Evasion Rating on Shield at gem level 1 (unchanged), up to 5 to 7 at gem level 20 (previously 4 to 6).

Now deals damage based on your equipped shield, not your weapon. Here's how it does it:
Base off hand critical strike chance is 5%.
Adds 0.1% to critical strike chance per 10 maximum energy shield on shield.
Deals 11 to 17 base off hand physical damage at gem level 1, up to 132 to 198 at gem level 20.
Adds 2 to 3 physical damage per 15 armour or evasion rating on shield.
Base off hand attack time is 0.53 seconds at gem level 1, down to 0.48 seconds at gem level 20.
Now has three distinct sections—the start of the charge, the movement part of the charge, and the attack at the end of the charge. Your weapon's base attack time now affects the start and end, and movement speed and increases to global attack speed now affect the middle. Local attack speed modifiers no longer affect the middle movement part of the charge, whereas previously they would.
In other words, while using Brightbeak will cause the start and end of the charge to be quicker, it will not cause you to move from point A to point B any more quickly. For that, you need to invest in global attack speed and movement speed.
To help compensate for this loss in movement speed for most characters, Shield Charge now gains 1% increased movement speed as the gem levels up.
Fixed an issue where Shield Charge had two separate damage modifiers at gem level 2 and above, which displayed as "Deals 50% base damage, Deals 101.2% of base damage". These have been combined into one modifier.
Shield Charge is now an Area of Effect skill. It deals damage to enemies you collide with as you charge, then deals a larger aoe at the end of the charge. It no longer always stuns. It gains more damage and stun threshold reduction the further you travel, up to a certain distance.

Shield Charge now provides no damage bonus if used at minimum range, because it's fast and doesn't miss. It still provides the same damage bonus at longer ranges.
