For the regular version of Ruthless, see Ruthless mode.

Ruthless with Gold is a special game mode and type of race event focused around Ruthless mode, with the addition of an exclusive tradable currency in the form of GoldGoldStack Size: 5000Can be spent at Vendors. It can only be played as Standard Trade-enabled Ruthless. It is a void league and does not interact with the current temporary league.

Details

In addition to all of the regular restrictions of Ruthless mode,

  • Monsters and chests drop Gold Coins, which can be used to buy items from vendors.
  • All vendor prices throughout the game have been replaced by prices in Gold Coins.
  • When you sell items to vendors, you receive Gold Coins rather than currency shards. Other Ruthless vendor recipes are unmodified.
  • An NPC offers items to gamble for using gold, similar to Gwennen.
  • Gold Coins auto-pickup when nearby, similar to Azurite and Aureus Coins.
  • Gold Coins are itemised like Perandus CoinPerandus CoinStack Size: 5000Trade coins to Cadiro Perandus.s, and stack up to 5000 per inventory/stash space (50k in Currency Stash Wildcard Spaces).
  • In a party, Gold Coins you pick up are shared between nearby party members.
  • You can still find currency items, at regular Ruthless drop rates (i.e. not often). Gold Coins are dropped in addition to regular currency, meaning that in Ruthless with Gold, there is somewhat less item scarcity than full Ruthless.
  • The current temporary league is not enabled.

Gold mechanics

This event's mechanics center around the currency of GoldGoldStack Size: 5000Can be spent at Vendors. As such, vendors have changed significantly.

Drops

  • Monsters have a chance to drop gold, with higher rarity monsters dropping increased amount or stacks of gold.
    • The minimum gold drop remains consistent at 1 Gold.
    • The maximum gold drop is typically from rare monsters, with up to 4 Gold in Act 1, 10 Gold in Act 4, 35 Gold in Act 7, and 70+ Gold in maps.
    • Unique monsters typically drop several stacks of smaller quantities of gold.

Purchasing from vendors

  • Items of normal to rare rarity are available from both vendors in each town.
  • The base cost of items increases in each Act, based on the item's base type and item level.
    • Each item level increases the base cost by 1.5-2% per level.
    • Item Quality has no impact on the cost.
  • The type and number of affixes will significantly increase the cost of an item. For example, a 2 affix magic item may cost up to 6 times the base cost of a normal item of the same item level.
    • Mod tiers have no impact on the cost.
  • Jewellery items are rarely offered by the caster/flask vendor; these typically cost several thousand Gold.
  • Additionally, currency to currency vendor trades are disabled. Instead, the following currencies are available from the vendor:
