Kalguur
Kalguur is the homeland of the Kalguur people (also known as Kalguurans), a nation located in Middengard, a distant continent located southeast of Wraeclast. Although it cannot be directly accessed, it has been referenced in Expedition league and Settlers league. Specifically in the Settlers league timeline, several Kalguurans who have arrived on Wraeclast are seeking to develop the town of Kingsmarch, a harbour to facilitate trading between the settlers, the Karui archipelago, and Kalguur.

Runes
The runes on our armour essentially capture and shape starlight. Sounds poetic, but don't be fooled. The smiths of the Kalguur turned these runes towards killing work long ago, as soon as they discovered that they could compel arrows to find their mark and blades to bite deeper. The greatest smiths became known as artificers, and produced work of singular genius. There weren't many such relics, but there didn't need to be.
Dannig
The Kalguur engraved runes containing the essence of starlight into their equipment, strengthening their weapons and adding mystical protection to their armour.
The Triskelion Flame
The most powerful artifact in our known tales was brought to this continent by the first expedition thousands of years ago. The songs tell of it incinerating evil, purifying tainted fields, and warding off those of ill intent. We could certainly use a relic like that now, in these troubled times... but to find it, we'll have to retrace the steps of those long ago souls. Only they can tell us the Triskelion Flame's unknown fate.
Dannig
The Triskelion Flame is a legendary artifact that was brought to Wraeclast during the Kalguurans' first expedition, ordered by King Cadigan the Third. It was documented to have the ability to purify rain and fish corrupted by the Cataclysm to be safe to consume. It was also able to create a "starlight barrier" capable of warding off the evil and the undead, though its powers weakened over a larger area. It was later stolen by Olroth, dooming the remaining members of the original expedition party and Kalguur villages.
Dannig's primary goal was to discover the whereabouts of the lost Triskelion Flame. Although the artifact is located, it ends up being destroyed as a result of an encounter with Olroth, who had been using the Triskelion Flame to keep himself alive. After defeating Olroth, Dannig tells the player not to tell others about the fate of the legendary artifact, not wanting the other Kalguur settlers to lose hope.
Thaumaturgy
Although Remembrancer records documented that the Kalguur thought the virtue gems "called to [them]", modern Kalguur have no inherent proficiency or susceptibility to thaumaturgy and virtue gems, unlike most people of Wraeclast. Dannig and Johan attempted to use a gem but could not activate its powers.
Uhtred had declared virtue gems as "unclean", and after witnessing the Azmeris' fearful reaction towards virtue gems, King Cadigan the Third had officially banned their collection and were never brought back to Kalguur. Medved's attempt to explore the nature of the gems almost led to his exile.
However, as the situation grew dire, Vorana, Medved, and Olroth were eventually able to use the power of the virtue gems to fight back against the "nightbreeds" of the Vorniculia and the Empty-Eyed Fiend though they had cast aside their "primary virtue" to do so. There is no documentation indicating that Uhtred ever used virtue gems. However, it was evident that had succumbed to madness from corruption before discovering a dark mirror.
Faith
The Kalguur do not have a notion of "gods". Instead, they place a special importance in the stars, using starlight as a means of bolstering their weaponry through runes. The prominent "religion" of the Kalguur appears to specialize more in the study of technology and alchemy than in the belief of deities. It is known that there are other religious factions from Kalguur, however many of them had emigrated to Wraeclast to avoid the scrutiny of the Knights of the Sun.
Monarchy
The Kalguur are ruled by a notorious king; most Kalguurans refer to him as "that... man" or refuse to speak about him at all.
Gwennen hints at a failed rebellion but refuses to speak about it further to the exile.
On the subject of Gods, Dannig mentions a "man who would fancy himself a god", possibly implying that the king is trying to cultivate some form of divine image.
When expeditions to other continents are successful and outposts reach a certain size, the King gifts these outposts an official Charter and a name. "The King's Hand" is an official assigned to aid in the execution and management of that charter.
Society
- The Remembrancers (and the Prime Remembrancer) were responsible for documenting the explorations of the Kalguur in foreign lands.
- The Knights of the Sun were powerful warriors and military enforcers under direct orders of the King, led by Olroth.
- The Black Scythe were mercenaries led by Vorana that were responsible for defense and offense in the expedition group. They were composed primarily of arbalists specializing in crossbows.
- The Druids of the Broken Circle, also know as nature-mystics, were a sect of druids led by Medved. It was rumoured that they could see into the future by "peering into the past".
- The Priests of the Chalice were a religious order that was part of the original expedition. They interpreted the stars and had a mastery of alchemy, machinery, and runes.
- The Kalguurans have a game that is analogous to tabletop RPGs. Rog manages the game, and Dannig, Tujen, and Gwennen gather to play it regularly.
