Divination Scarab of Pilfering is a scarab.

Mechanics

Each divination card pilfered by a map boss grants 1% increased damage and 5% increased Toughness to the monster. Diviner's Strongboxes provide a large quantity cards that can be pilfered by a map boss, and can be modified to drop doubled cards (e.g. Vault of Mysteries), which the scarab will double again.

Without other sources of Toughness, the maximum number of cards a monster can pilfer while still being damageable is 3979. At 3980+ cards, the monster gains 100% less damage taken.

The increased damage and Toughness applies to all of the default bosses in a multi-boss map. The pilfered divination cards only drop from the final map boss. This scarab's effects do not apply to map bosses spawned through other methods such as Destructive Play, Domination Scarab of TerrorsDomination Scarab of TerrorsStack Size: 20

Strategies

Due to the potential of extreme damage increase to the boss, it is recommended to choose bosses where damage can be easily avoided such as Tolman, the Exhumer from Mausoleum.

Since version 3.25.0d, bosses heal to full when they steal a Divination Card, so previous strategies involving lowering the boss to culling range prior to collecting divination cards are no longer effective.
