Cannot die aura is a monster aura from the monster with the mod of the same name (displayed as Other Allies Cannot Die under the monster nameplate). Player need to kite the monster with the aura, away from other monsters, or kill the monster with the aura directly, in order to kill the monster pack.

The aura effect display the descry symbol. The symbol represented Innocence or the Templar faction of in-game world.

Since version 3.14.0 the aura is largely removed from the game, but with exception such as Vaal Totems.[1]

Note that the aura is different from Maker of Mires' aura/buff. The monster that have "other cannot die aura" can be slayed, while Maker of Mires's aura made it invulnerable at all but not granting invulnerability to its allies.

The mod MonsterAuraCannotDie1 (prefix) is no longer on monster in 3.14, despite it may be found in permanent leagues' The Menagerie or itemized beast, which monsters with this mod are captured by the players before the mod's removal.

Version history

Cannot die aura (except totem) was replaced by Benevolent Guardian which behave differently. Although that nemesis mod is replaced again in version 3.18.0 by archnemesis monster mod Invulnerable, which is more resembled to the behaviour of Cannot die aura. This change was revoked again in version 3.18.0c to make "Invulnerable" mod behave like Benevolent Guardian. After a generally negative review on most archnemssis mod among the players community, Version 3.20.0 removed archnemesis mod from the monster and replaced by new set of mods, however, the mod BenevolentBenevolent
Prefix
(Invulnerability Aura) is still somewhat resemble to Benevolent Guardian.

  • The "Allies Cannot Die" aura has been removed. To replace this, a new "Benevolent Guardian" Nemesis modifier has been added which causes the Monster with this modifier to apply an Immunity buff to nearby allies for a short duration.

  • Fixed a bug where the "Allies Cannot Die" modifier was not being removed when capturing a Bestiary beast.

  • Monsters with the "Allies Cannot Die" aura cannot be affected by the "Allies Cannot Die" aura themselves. This prevents multiple monsters with this aura from affecting one another.
